SPT-1, SPT-2, SPT-3 Lamp cord
Application of lamp cord:
Lamp Cord is perfect for lamps, clocks, household fans and small appliances that won't be used too hard (SPT-1 and SPT-2).
• Two-conductor cord for use as internal wiring in air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
• Three-conductor cord for power supply to domestic refrigeration equipment and window-type air conditioners (SPT-3).
• Lamp Cord is suitable for use at temperatures not exceeding minimum -20°C or maximum 105°C.
Construction of Lamp Cord:
The lamp cord is made up of two bare, annealed, flexible stranded copper conductors and two or three premium-grade conductors laid side by side. If you have three conductors, they are laid parallel.

SPT-1 vs SPT-2 vs SPT-3
SPT Wire is a flexible power cord that conforms to the UL62 standard and is rated 300V 60/105C. It is an integral, thermoplastic-insulated, parallel wire that is often used as a portable cable for household appliances and light-duty applications. SPT wire is also commonly referred to as lamp cord or lamp cable. It is a versatile cable that is found in most households and is used in appliances such as radios, fans, clocks and extension cords.
SPT cable is also a popular cord for Christmas holiday lighting decorations.
SPT-2 wire (18-16 AWG) has 50% thicker insulation compared to the SPT-1 (20-18 AWG) (30mils vs 45mils). Its superior insulation makes it well suited for lower temperature applications, where the thinner insulation of the SPT-1 might become brittle and crack. The SPT-2 also has higher power handling capacity than the SPT-1.
The SPT-1 has thinner insulation, which makes it more flexible.
SPT-3 wire (18-10 AWG) has the maximum thickness insulation (60 mils-110 mils) and is used in high-power applications, such as refrigerators or air conditioners. Main Difference of SPT-1, SPT-2, SPT-3
The main differences between the types of wire are in the thickness of their insulation. SPT-1 has the thinnest insulation at 0.03 inches, SPT-2 has 0.045 inches and SPT-3 has the thickest insulation at 0.060 inches.Amperage Rating: The amperage does not depend on the SPT rating. The amperage rating of a wire, including SPT wires, is primarily determined by the gauge of the wire, which is a measure of the wire's thickness.A thicker gauge wire can handle a higher amperage.While the SPT rating (1, 2, or 3) does indicate the thickness of the insulation, it doesn't directly affect the amperage rating.The gauge of the conductor within the insulation is the key factor.Durability:
SPT-3's thicker insulation makes it most resistant to abrasion, moisture, and environmental factors, so it's commonly used in heavy-duty industrial applications such as manufacturing equipment, marine environments, and outdoor industrial installations.SPT-2 is more durable than SPT-1 and is typically used for refrigerator power cords, outdoor bistro lighting cords, and applications requiring extended exposure to moderate environmental conditions.
SPT-1 is best suited for indoor, short-term, or seasonal applications such as c9 Christmas light spools.
Flexibility: SPT-1, with its thinner insulation, is generally more flexible than SPT-2 or SPT-3. This makes it easier to route and install in tight spaces, but less suitable for harsh environments.
